Notice of Race for the US Etchells Class

2004 Albert Y. Fournier Memorial Regatta on October 10, 2004

The organizing authority for this regatta is Etchells Fleet #30 at Milford Yacht Club.

1. RULES
1.1. This regatta shall be governed by the 'rules' as defined by the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2001-2004, and the Rules of the International Etchells Class Association, except as any of these are modified by the Sailing Instructions and any amendments thereto. The prescriptions of US SAILING will not apply.

2. ELIGIBILITY - Eligibility shall be in accordance with the International Etchells Class Association Rules (CR) Appendix A.  All skippers must be current dues-paid members of Fleet #30 and IECA.

3. REGISTRATION and MEASUREMENT                                                                              

3.1. Eligible boats shall register with the Fleet Captain by mail or in person by10/9/04 before 8 PM.       

3.2. All boats will be in compliance with IECA Rules.                                                          

3.3. Crew members shall not have a total weight of more than 628 lbs. 
                                                                                                                                              

4. ENTRIES
4.1. For entries and payment received by 9 Oct. at the MYC Etchells Registration box in the hoist area, the entry fee is $20 per boat.                                                                                        

4.2. Entry may be made electronically via e-mail to: gregorywed@optonline.net using the attached form.

5. REGATTA SITE - Regatta Headquarters will be the hoist area of the Milford Yacht Club.

6. NOTICES TO COMPETITORS - Notices to competitors will be posted on the official Regatta Notice Board located at the north side of the Junior’s building.  Prior to the opening of Registration notices can be read at the Fleet 30 website: www.etchellsmyc.org.  Notices on the race course will be distributed by the Race Committee will be on VHF channel 72.  See NOR # 13.                             
7. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
- Friday, 08 Oct.            - 1700 - 1900 Registration at the MYC Bar                                               

- Sunday, 10 Oct.          - 0930 Skippers Meeting                                                                                                         - 1000 Harbor Start                                                                                                                                  - 1100 First race, races # 2 & # 3 to follow                                           
No races will be started after 1630 on Sunday, Oct. 10th

8. RACING AREA - The racing area will be the MYC Club Racing circle.

9. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
- Sailing Instructions will be available at registration and on the Fleet # 30 website: www.etchellsmyc.org
                                                                            
10. SCORING
11.1. The Low-Point Scoring System, RRS Appendix A, will apply.                                            

11.2. Two races must be completed to constitute a series.

11. PRIZES - The Albert Y. Fournier Trophy will be awarded to the overall winner. Keeper Prizes will be awarded to skippers and crew placing first and second.  Trophies presented at the MYC Sailing Banquet in October 2004.

12. LOANER BOATS - A limited number of boats might be available on a first come first served basis for entrants.  Contact Gregory Geiger, information below.                                                              

13. VHF RADIO - All boats are strongly urged to carry a hand held VHF Radio capable of receiving communications on VHF Channel # 72.  The Race Committee may announce on the VHF Channel their intentions regarding the time of a warning signal as well as the course and heading when posted.  As soon as practical following a starting signal, the Race Committee will endeavor to announce the sail numbers of those boats that it intends to score OCS following an Individual Recall Signal.  The failure to hear your sail number hailed shall not be grounds for redress under RRS Rule 62.
